Meet Our New Faculty!

Assistant Professor Anoop Sarbahi is a new addition to the Department of Political Science! Prior to joining the University of Minnesota, Professor Sarbahi has held pre and post-doctoral positions at Stanford University, UCLA, and Harvard University. He received his PhD from UCLA in 2011, and also has an M.Phil. in Planning and Development from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay.

Professor Sarbahi’s research interests include ethnicity, civil wars, counterinsurgency, post-conflict transition, state rebuilding, and political economy of inter-group and inter-regional disparities. He is currently working on several projects investigating those topics. The University of Minnesota is exhilarated to have someone with the level of expertise that Professor Sarbahi brings, and he is already sharing his knowledge with undergraduate students: he teaches POL 1905: Politics of Disruption: Violence and its Alternatives, and POL 3410, a course on the Politics of India.
